  1. In May of 2014, Puffer family hosted Mercy College’s Envisaj (Environmental Sustainability and Justice Club) and their professor TH Culhane at their home to build the first in-basement home biodigester in the U.S. A quote from Culhane in USA Today sums up his philosophy: “We feel that biogas is appropriate for everybody on the planet…. My wife and I cook every day on yesterday’s kitchen garbage.”

The Puffers farm microbes in their parallel IBC Solar C.³I.T.I.E.S. style biodigester to harness energy from their organic waste to create biogas for cooking and making nitrogen rich plant food for growing food hydroponically and enriching soil. Home biogas is used commonly in rural India and Kenya, the Puffers hope to inspire and educate on the possibilities of home biogas in the U.S.

    1. Kathy Puffer! So glad You’ll be joining us April 16th at the ODDS event in the Ossining Public Library when we Explore “SOLUTIONS” rather than “PROBLEMS”! First with Films, Then with Hands-on Demos and Lightening Speed A/V presentations! A Multi-Media Extravaganza and RED CARPET EVENT for Ossining’s EArth Day Celebration down at the River just 2 days later! Oo-la-la!
